WE ASK: According to whose project will the Donja Gradina Memorial be built?

The architectural solution that should be a model for the announced team is the Memorial Center in Stari Brod on the Drina river, not far from Višegrad, by Novica Motika.

We have been hearing promises about the construction of the Donja Gradin Memorial Center for years. More intensively since 2010, when the first project proposal was made, which did not get the green light at the public hearing in Banja Luka.

A year or two ago, one could hear from the officials that the project would be done by a well-known company from America.

Today, at the meeting of the two Serbian Presidents , Aleksandar Vučić and Milorad Dodik, it was not mentioned what the project solution was.

It is unthinkable that the Memorial in Donja Gradina will be architecturally built on the model of memorials to victims of the Holocaust, such as in Jerusalem, Berlin or Washington.

A solution in the style of “Glass – stone – aluminum – cube – pyramid” – would represent an insult to the Serbian sufferers, victims of the Holocaust and their descendants, completely inappropriate to the Serbian spirit and being.

We express our fear that the decision on the selection of the future Memorial project will undoubtedly have a significant influence on foreign organizations that, among other things, also deal with the memorialization of the Holocaust and that have been intensively implementing their forms on this topic for the past few years through key institutions in Serbia and Srpska that are entrusted with the competence for taking care of the memory of the victim.

Which institutions abroad, in Serbia and Srpska, do not need to be listed separately because it is very well known to those who understand the importance of remembering the victims and the importance of preventing Genocide.

This Memorial of heavenly beauty, the first to be erected to the victims of the Holocaust , the crime of Genocide committed against the Serbian people by the Independent State of Croatia, received the undivided support of the organizations of the descendants of the victims in Serbia, Srpska and the Serbian diaspora, and we witness the increasing number of visitors who go to that holy place place.
