Exhibition “My Jadovno” opened
BANJA LUKA – With the opening of the “My Jadovno” exhibition, dedicated to the complex of Ustasha camps Gospić-Jadovno-Pag, at the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka, the marking of the Jadovno Remembrance Day started.
President of the Association of Descendants and Supporters of the Victims of the Complex of Ustasha Camps Gospić 1941 Dušan Bastašić stressed that after 71 years this is the first exhibition dedicated to the complex of Ustasha camps where Serbs and Jews were cruelly tortured and murdered.
“This exhibition is the result of efforts by enthusiasts and students from the Association ‘Milan Vasić’ from Banja Luka. The most important documents on the suffering in the complex of Ustasha camps we have obtained from historical archives in Belgrade, Zagreb, Banja Luka and Rijeka”, said Bastašić.
According to him, a memorial service for Jadovno martyrs is going to be held at the Church of Christ Our Saviour in Banja Luka on Friday, 22 June.
The Consulting Editor of the exhibition, Goran Latinović stressed that it had never been determined how many Serbs had been murdered in the Independent State of Croatia from 1941 to 1945.
“The exhibition on the complex of Ustasha camps Gospić-Jadovno-Pag is a modest, but valuable step towards our desired goal”, Latinović said.
He added that in the following years the exhibition is going to be presented in Moscow, Jerusalem, Washington and Chicago.
The exhibition “My Jadovno” is going to be opened until the middle of next month.
