To descendants and admirers of victims of Jadovno
Ladies and Gentlemen, dear brothers and sisters,
On the initiative of our Association, June 24 has been declared the "Jadovno 1941 Remembrance Day".
On that day, in 1941, Slana Camp on Pag received its first inmates and Jadovno Camp on Velebit reached its final size.
The Commemoration is going to be held at Šaranova bezdana jama (Šaran's Bottomless Pit), within the devastated Memorial Area for Jadovno Victims.
The second part of the Commemoration is going to be held at the Slana Camp Memorial Area on the island of Pag.
The requiem service will be conducted by His Holiness Gerasim, Bishop of Gornji Karlovac.
We are looking forward to a large attendance by descendants and admirers of victims, coming from all over the world.
We also expect high-ranking delegations from the whole region.
We wish to gather all people willing to come, from Republika Srpska, Federation of BH, Republic of Serbia and Republic of Croatia, i.e. from the whole area covered by the infamous Ustasha Independent State of Croatia.
Unfortunately, most of those people are in a poor financial state.
On this occasion, we invite you to help us as much as you can to hold this Commemoration and to join us on June 26, 2010.

Dear brothers, descendants and admirers of victims,
The truth about Jadovno was hidden with imposed silence lasting for many years which almost resulted in our collective amnesia.
In the area of this Ustasha scaffold, predecessor of Jasenovac, in only 132 days of its existence, 40 123 victims had been killed in the cruellest ways or thrown alive in karst pits and the sea in the Velebit Channel.
Remains of our ancestors still lay at the bottoms of pits of Velebit and amongst the rocky desert on the island of Pag. We cannot call these places tombs!
During the last war, those victims were killed again by breaking Memorial Plaques and blowing up monuments.
Victims of Jadovno, whose spirit lives within us, have no voice. We, their ancestors and admirers have a moral, historical and every other commitment to raise our voice against this historical shame and injustice, to cherish the culture of memory and conduct concrete activities in those directions.
We invite you to rise from the omnipresent apathy and ethnic, religious and all other kinds of crisis and depression, to help us and be with us at Jadovno on June 26, 2010.
May the Lord bless you.
Dr. Dušan Bastašić
Association President
